General
Appearance
Eyes
Nephites have the capacity for literally any eye color you can imagine.
It is not rare or strange to have bright red or pitch black. The only rarities
are eyes that defy nature (example: Eyes that have a prism like a diamon,
completely one color eyes without any white to them, etc.). They also have
the occasional (not rare but not highly common either) chance for fish like
additions such as lithis eyes (cat like pupils that are on some low light
vision creatures) or nictitating membranes (a secondary clear eye lid that
shields the eyes from harm).
Hair
Nephites have the capacity for literally any hair color you can imagine.
It is not uncommon for them to even have two or three tones of hair and
some even have opalescent colors (dark or light), though that is not as
common. They posses both straight hair and wavy textures, though sassage
curls are hard to keep in a permanant underwater enviroment. Often they
have longer hair, since sisccors don't exactly permate their culture.
Skin
Nephites have the capacity for literally any skin color you can imagine.
They do not possess dual skin tones, though they can have spots, stripes
or the like on their flesh. They do not possess human skin types, their
skin is more like a dolphin's exterior, smooth and hairless with a more
rubbery quality that endured better under the water. They also have a love
of body art, such as tatoosmay also possess skin pearls. (See Attributes)
Fashion
As a whole the Celestials possess a largely diverse dress code thanks to
the pirates they steal from (who have stuff from many cultures which are
sea worthy) and their own use of sea based creatures.
Atttributes
Tail
You can have fins up high and low if you wish, and patterns if you want
on the fins OR the scales. The actual 'motor' fin (the largest on the end)
can be vertical (like a fish) or horizontal (like a mammal). You can have
as many fins as you like but common locations are an the sides, the back,
the front and you are REQUIRED to have the motor fin! Your fin can also
look like various sea creatures such as orcas or sea horses.
Hands
Fingers are always long, however you may choose to have webbing between
the fingers for a slight increased is movement with your hands, and claws
for attacking.
Body
Nephite’s are fish and constantly using muscles to move and survive
so they are never overweight.
Skin Pearls
The pearls are a growth on their bodies like humans get moles. They come
in a variety of colors but typically a person will have white pearls. Colors
are in all shades but they are not (usually) more then monotone (as in each
person won't have more then one color of pearl on their body). They can
be placed anywhere their is flesh (not scales or fins).
Ears
Ear shapes range from 'elf-like' ears to fins. Fins are the most common
and we will only accept a certain amount of 'elf-like' ears.
Body Weaponry
Nephite’s can optionally have horns on their head, elbows, back, and
sides as natural weapons in the ocean. These horns are made of bone. They
can also have hard fin protrusions from their fore arm or backside for fighting
as well, these are a long shard like horn, but thinner with a fin that connects
from the bone to their body and is razored along the edge.
Gills
Are non visible, within the body. Also of note is that Nephite’s are
labyrinth breathers, meaning they can breathe oxygen for a longer amount
of time then most fish.
Natural
Abilities
Sonar
The ability to emit a sound and have it reflects back to the Nephite’s
tail (having the most blubber to it). This echolation provides them a relative
shape of things around them. Tantamount to seeing things by feeling with
your hands you get shapes and nothing more.
Telepathy
It is a conversation via electronic impulse between brains, they move though
the water so telepathy doesn't work if the Nephitie's head is above water.
There is no private telepathy as you cannot control the spread of impulses
anymore then you could the spread of a sound wave when you speak.
Lowlight Vision
The ability to see clearly so long as there is a little light around you.
If there is NO light you are still blind however.
Shape Shifting
Nephites can freely change between a tail and legs, however all other body
parts and colorations stay the same.
Breeding
The Nephite’s do not conceive children in the manner of humans (i.e.
mating) but instead those both female and male who wish to participate come
to an event that is held once a year on full moon
of season of homecoming each year. The females lay eggs (naturally stored
within them), the men seed them doing a pass over of the eggs.
The eggs that then become fertile are taken in by the Rookery Guardians who watch over the eggs until maturity is reached enough that the child may take their coming of age test. No child has a set mom and dad, or at least none that they are positive of since all are present, but instead they may all look to the Rookery Guardians for maternal care and protection.
Due to this Nephites do not gage their age by a month of birth, but instead a generation- and their siblings are those of the same generation.
Of special note however is the exception to this, the Royalty. The Emperor’s (ess) linage has a private rockery in which they mate, though there after the child is cared for with the rest until it comes of age. It is the only child who will know its parents.
Lifespan
Most of them die from violence, betrayal or disease before they are 200
years old.
Child Years: 1 – 10 (Nephites must choose position
to apprentice under before they turn 11.)
Teenager Years: 11– Comming of Age (Nephites commonly
come of age between 15-17, depending on maturity.)
Young Adult Years: Comming of Age – 50
Adult Years: 51 - 200
Senior Years: 201 – 500
Elder Years: 501+ (Nephites who reach this old may actually
choose to retire from positions if they wish, it is rare they can or do.)
No character may be in play older then 500 at character creation unless the moderators created them personally.
