The Surface

Keep an Open Mind

The humans are seen as sailors and land dwellers. Sailors are revered as brave cousins that miss their old tie to the ocean. Land dwellers are seen as those who have totally lost their connection to the ocean. Either way, they are both helped.

It is against the laws for any Nephite to be seen by a human at all, it is also against the law for them to not help one in need on or in the ocean. While this seems like catch-22 it simply requires the Nephite to take caution in assisting the humans so that they can save them and remain unseen.

Unfortunately the good intentions of the Nephites can sometimes be their down fall. Humans, sailors inperticular, know of the lore of Mermaid's Flesh (the idea that devouring mermaid flesh grants immortality, which is potentially TRUE of Blanche'). To the humans a mer-person is a mer-person! Some Nephites have been caught and devoured for their flesh for immortality.

The surface world is presently in the era of a pirate thriving Carribean.

Reminder: Blanche' are the ones who's flesh has a chance at giving immorality not Nephites.
