The Imperial City | The Undersea Reef | The Surface Kingdom

The Imperial City
The Imperial City is what the Nephite's call their home. It is a huge (think the size of San Francisco) collection of structures. All of the structures are designed to look like a grand temples and estates in the Japanese style. It rests on a plank of land which has its bottom along the water and the city continues down there. Beneath it's upside down if you stood on the ocean floor and looked at it.The stone work of the underwater city is part coral, some marble, and quite a bit of random shells and stones. It has a glittery look in direct light.

Both parts of the Imperial City has many guards that protect it from dangers such as the Blanche', humans or other empires. It has a lot of natural plant life that makes the walls and surrounding areas vibrant with color and life.

On land are stables for the war cats and undersea they house the large sea horses called Kepmi. There is a royal stables and then there are common stables in each (surface & undersea) which are NOT near one another. The royalty lives in a separate splendid structure that is in the center of The Imperial City. They do not live with anyone else but servants and family if they have direct family. Other family is allowed on request.

Everyone has their own home. Rank determines the size and spaciousness of the living 'quarters'. Barracks that house those being trained look more like apartment buildings rather then individual homes. Individual homes are only for adults. All hatchlings stay in the rookery (except the heirs) until they are of age. They are allowed to choose where they live from available areas or they can try to have a home built while they are still young and a few seasons from being of age.

The Undearsea Reef
Coral reefs are one of the most diverse and beautiful natural environments on earth. Coral reefs are extraordinary living geological structures. They are highly diverse and productive, but grow best in oceanic waters with very low levels of nutrients. Coral reefs can form only in relatively clear, warm waters, where water temperature rarely falls below 18° C.

Coral reefs are massive structures; kilometres in diameter, and tens to hundreds of metres deep. However, the living reef is only a thin veneer on the outside of a structure formed by the remains of dead corals and algae. Coral reefs are largely confined to shallow waters because the corals on which reefs rely contain small algae, called zooxanthellae. These algae help to supply food to the coral, and they, like other plants, require light to survive. Where water temperature varies from the preferred temperature, or environmental conditions are otherwise unfavourable, coral bleaching and death may occur.

The Suface Kingdom
The lands around the island in the reef are lush and full of vibrant plant life and exotic animals who have been unravaged by the ways of humans. They have built walls around the edges of the Imperial City and use that border to fend off invading nations.
