I no longer know the face of evil.

Once, when I was a child left to inherit my father’s throne at the mere age of six, I believed the face of evil was the Nazcan nation. They had robbed me of my father for the crime of trying to make piece with their barbarous race and I would have seen every last one of them stricken from the earth.

When I was thirteen I believed evil must be the Blighted, monstrous demons hiding in the shadowy realm beyond our sight who preyed upon the weak and unaware for their very life essence.

As I entered into my adulthood I knew evil was the criminal element, they had slaughtered my most beloved Uncle Lucien, the man who had raised me in the absence of my parents. Parasites of society, I vowed to never give them quarter in my courts.

How shallow I was then. My dear Uncle rose from his own ashes in a coupe to steal the thrones from me and my brother, nearly killing us both in the process. He ruled my people in the most vile of ways, allowing virulent nobles to do as they deemed fit, permitting the church to hold wicked warlock hunts upon innocent civilians and executing anything that dared to whisper even a vague desire for release from his devilish ruler ship. I rose a rebellion with my brother, we ended my Uncle’s tyranny and it was my sword that ended both his rule and his life.

But even then, I was childish to believe things would become stable and peaceful. My brother and his loving wife were felled by thunder-stick wielding round-ears from across the vast oceans. Demons arouse in the lands of our Ryuko allies and besieged their people. Yet Nazcan’s laid down their arms and asked for peace and my own people raised their weapons against and did slay the Elemental King of Fire: Dragon.

So I will say again, I do not know the face of evil. However I know the face of justice and I will see it done for the sake of my family and my brother, so help me Gods.
