Every mafia family has rules, a main business that brings in income and of course their leadership style.  Where the Giovanni have several smaller families under them (and tiny families under the smaller families) only the ones in PLAY are going to be listed here.

The Giovanni Family
The basics of the Giovanni Family is its collection of lesser families and its power over major cities through out the country and back home in Italy.  They have a dark and a light to their family.  Typically speaking their rulers are often inspiring and both fair and stern.  That doesn't mean that they're carebears.  They rule with absolute power and they are not forgiving to those who betray them. 

All in all the Giovanni are known for their strong ties to one another.  The motto goes: "Fuck with one Giovanni you've just gotten fucked by them all."

Their darker nature actually isn't in drug running.  Isn't to say they don't have drug rings but they are limited and often funded and ran by lesser families.  The Giovanni themselves are arms dealers, service dealers and sport a huge collection of themed 'escort clubs'.  They are primped up whore rings in some of their establishments. 

Leadership: Fair, stern and inspiring the leaders of the family are renown for their matuernal nature towards their mafia family (main and underlings included) they are also known for responding immedatly and prehaps harshly to betrayals or extremely large mistakes.  They are not known to give leeway.

Administration: The leaders, including the mob boss himself, underbosses, the financial advisor, etc.

Capo: A leader of a crew that works under the Administration. (Note: Only 1 player will be allowed to hold this rank and if more then one of you offer I will way the choices against each other based on skills for the job.)

Enforcer: Some one tasked with intimidating others, committing acts of violence and guarding key members of the mafia.

Hitman: Some one who kills for the mafia, only the mob boss can authorize them. (No, you may not. Yes, I am speaking to you players.)

Soldier: A standard member who does the jobs their dealt and works in a 10 man team (called a crew) under one Capo. Soldiers are not often called by this title, but instead referred to as "members" and then their primary forte' is attached. Soldiers are never given jobs that are not up their "alley" since that is a waste of time and resources, however they cannot really refuse jobs either.

Dealer: Some one who makes their profit for the family by dealing drugs, weapons or something illegal. It is one of the more dangerous jobs since the people who are paying you are easily tempted into ratting on you.

Runners: Errand runners.  These are people who have no real skill of use or they are not of age to be of use yet.

Help: These are maids, nannies, and other menial jobs that just help around the homes of the family members.

Escorts: These are employees with little power or say but they are treated well (as in horrible abuse is not tolerated).  They make the profit for the escort clubs and underground whore rings.  Male and female are applicable here.

Employees: This is the 'other' slot.  Scientists, doctors, yacht owners and other people on their pay rolls that do not directly work with or around the family members are listed as employees.  Technically Escorts are employees as well but they serve a more direct service on an on-going cycle.

Main Business: Escort Clubs (Whore Rings), Arms Dealing (Weapon Development/Distrubution)

House Rules: Respect to those of higher authority is a must.  Actions and continued words of disrespect are dealt with by force and punishment.  Funds are orgnaized by the Giovanni Financial Advisor and no one else.  And that goes for all funds in all under-families save for the Emeric.  When at another's home be respectful as a guest and do not disgrace your family's name.  Never act in a way that would disgrace your family or your boss.  Criminal activites are to be organized by the capas and higher, no one soldier or enforcer is to move on their own.  Murdering an officer of the law is prohibited unless it cannot be helped or premission is granted.  Random viloence is not tolerated unless premission is given.  Do NOT harm any employee within the escort business, they are profit after all!  Stealing, beating nearly to death or otherwise extremely harrasing fellow family members is not allowed without premission.

The Dario Family
The Dario family, or the Greek Mafia (nickname), are a family with many Greek Genericans who have long had ties to the Italian Giovanni family. They were formed in Greece by the original boss Steve Dario, who also had strong ties with the Falcone family at the time. When the Falcone family was began to lose power and went under the flag of the Giovanni's, Dario decided to move his operations to Generica. However the move was costly and the pay-off wasn't as high as they had hoped so they followed the example of their long time allies and went under the Giovanni as well.

Leadership: The leadership of the Dario family is like the leadership of a really organized thug group. They are killing machines, the best at what their family can do and as a result no one can take that power away from them. If they want to make a point they will beat some one, if they want to set an example people will die (often in nasty and brutal ways). This is not to say they don't have respect for the other families or know how to be socially charismatic when the time comes, but those kinds of things are not their daily routine and their much more comfertable in a chaotic and violent setting.

As a family directly under the control of the Giovanni they share the same infastructure.

Main Business: Organized Crime, Drug Dealing, Fight Clubs

House Rules: Respect anyone who can put you flat on your back. Actions speak louder then words ever can or will. Don't cross the family, the boss and defintely not the families over them (Giovanni). There is a 'Do Not Touch' list of people who cannot be targeted with violence, anyone else is fair game. If you are strong enough to take power from others then you have a right to it but if you try and fail then they have a right to do whatever the hell they want to you for trying.

The Emeric Family
A family by Germanic decent, the Emeric family is well known for it's cryptic nature.  They are a resourceful family who keep themselves hidden from the majority of public-eye.  They are most known for their activities as masters of deception.  Not all are skulking rouges, many are subterfuge masters.  They are also well established as the safest family to operate with when concerning touchy illegal maneuvers (hits, amazing theft, kidnappings, rescues). 

They are one of the oldest families and despite that they have chosen to remain small and be perceived as 'weaker' or as most think "rumors only". 

Popular view of them: A small family with rumors to make it seem bigger then it is, or, a false family name used when people are trying to cover up who they really are.

Character Creation Notice:  The Emeric Family can only be played by those who the moderators approve of.  They have a secondary nature that is not listed on the web site to contain the air of mystery about them. ALSO any characters played by the average member that step over their line in-character run the chance of having the character _KILLED_ by the family.  This would occur if they broke one of the family rules and it was able to be reported.

Leadership: Their leadership values inner family loyalty above and beyond all else.  The enigmatic leaders of the family only communicate in writing or by messenger.  They do not show their faces and it is only a rumor that one of their higher family leaders has had an actual meeting face to face.  Family secrets are of the utmost important to uphold.  A person with a loose tongue is not going to last long in the family.  It is a required 'acception' that families dealing with the Emeric respect their need for secrecy and inner family loyalty.

Administration: The boss and heirs and/or anyone in a seat of power (yes I'm being vague since no one should KNOW who/what is in power).

Keeper of the Book of the Moon: A singular person in charge of holding and documenting the history, secrets and motives of the family.  By law only the Keeper my enter an entry into the book or read from the pages with in.  Only with an extreme need is the Keeper allowed to read aloud anything from the book.

Lords: People who are in charge of an Emeric family establishment such as a night club, blood bank, manor, etc.  A location the family uses or owned by a powerful financial member.

Socialite: A deceptive term for someone who masters subterfuge in a social setting.  They are often information harvesters and a master of social disguises.  This goes from high society to gangs and the homeless community.

Shadow: A member of the family who specializes in criminal activities.

Worker: A person that runs errands, does menial tasks for whoever calls upon them.   These are similar to 'Runners'.

Family Retainers: People who live within family locations and serve those as servants or butlers.

Extended Family: Outsiders who are on the pay rolls.  These are things like in-the-know accountants, company owners, scientists, ect.  These are people on the outside who help the family loyally.

Puppet: Someone who doesn't know they're working for the family.  An example would be a gang leader and their gang who has no clue that the person paying them to make trouble is part of the Emeric family.

Main Business: Commission jobs through other Giovanni affiliated families.  Information bartering.

House Rules: Family secrets remain protected and unshared.  The leadership is never to be mentioned by direct name or described.  Family loyalty is above and beyond all other loyalties.  This is accepted and agreed upon with the family in charge and thus all members of the Emeric are aware of that.  There is no pressure to 'spill the family's beans' sort to speak, to another family's higher ups.  Outsiders are not allowed on or in Emeric family grounds without permission of whoever is in charge of the location and/or a superior.

The Falcone Family
A family of Italian descent, the Falcone are known best for their social graces and manipulations. They are a family who tends to take the center stage of "diplomatic" situations and has a way of painting themselves in the best light possible while their enemies fumble for the right words to counter attack. Most of them have ties into political arenas or hold office themselves, while others do work as CEOs in a multitude of companies that lend them to high society. Among the families they are the one with the strongest monetary backing.

The Falcone is an older family, though they did not originate with the Giovanni, having been a powerful family in their own right who fell into poor leadership and needed to ally with the stronger family for support to keep their linage strong enough to reach its current status.

Leadership: As a true Italian founded mafia family the first and foremost principles are family and omerta. Nothing is as important as backing one another and preserving the honor of the family itself. While some of the older members resent the Falcone's reliance on the Giovanni's most of the current and younger generation have known nothing else and are very content with the arrangement.  The jobs and ranks of the Falcone are intergraded into that of the Giovanni.

Main Business: Politics, blackmail and social intrigue. Rackets include: loan sharking, gambling and extortion as well.

House Rules: Omerta, in other words family does not rat out family no matter what the reason. This does not just imply protecting the Falcone, but the mafia as a whole. To the Falcone there is "us" (the mafia) and "them" (those who are not) and they are all about ensuring "they" never hurt the family. Another house rule is that it is insulting to ask for something for nothing: if you want to thank some one use money, if you want information use money, if you want to apologize use money, and so on. Likewise, pay important people for the privilege of their time unless you are of the same rank or higher.
