Psychology Previously Jack shut down any and all emotions to keep from being affected by the experiments Shelton did.  The result was a backlash of keeping those emotions repressed.  Now he’s still quick to go through any emotion, but with Nicole’s help, keeps his emotions in a laid-back demeanor although he still has a very smart mouth that can get him in trouble.  He can be impatient, especially when someone’s in trouble and will leap into the fray, taking any punishment that is dished out. (He can endure a lot of pain).

History
Jack lived his first eight years of life with his family, though he no longer remembers their names. He does remember going out fishing with his father and what he thinks was his grandfather. Those were his happiest memories and the ones he kept even after he forgot who his family was.

When he was taken into Shelton Inc. he wasn’t subjected to any experiments, instead he was used as a “control” for the experiment. Given that his job was to NOT be tested the scientists gave him another one to make him more useful, he was sent in to talk with the other kids. He would play with him, stay in rooms with them, all the while he was to report back to the scientists on how the kids felt after specific tests or surgeries. The children opened up to another child easier then they did to the adults.

Growing up feeling like he was betraying his friends and seeing their issues, he was starting to become dramatic himself. However the adults he reported to so often wouldn’t hear of it and through their punishments for his tantrums he mellowed into his present persona to try and please both parties.

Things took a different turn for Jack when he was younger then they would for the rest of the kids. He was injured while training for a “test” against one of the other children with . He was then transferred to a medical facility under the companies’ employ. The rest of the kids were teleported away, he was left behind along with 1% of the other children. He isn’t sure why, nor is anyone else who was left behind all that they seem to have in common was none of them were miserable with their lives at Shelton. After that, he was told to hone his skills since they had located the children and planned to send him as one of the many “spies” to observe the errant collection of specimens and report their findings back to Shelton Inc.

He was given a “mom” and “dad” who aren’t his real parents but play the roles for his sake so that he can report his “findings” back to them regularly without raising any suspicions. Since he’s eighteen he also got a job at a local construction company; it gave him more “connection” in the world so the kids wouldn’t suspect him and it meant less time around the hardly loving parents he’d been assigned. Truthfully he finds the more he is away from the company the more his loyalty wavers.

2008 started off as a pretty normal year where Jack practiced Street Walking with some of the guys at the construction site. It was a more defined form of acrobatics, not like a gymnast, but learned from jumping off various heights and learning to roll and not hurt himself. Late in 2008, Jack got to know more of the kids; especially Nicky who he realized had a cult chasing after him. It was Jack’s first venue into caring. Even though he didn’t mind Shelton watching them, he certainly didn’t want anyone else finding Nicky! It was the beginning of a slew of contradictions that would soon make up his life, but it wasn’t enough to change his mind and not be involved in kidnapping the twins. He saw it as a pretty fun adventure and eagerly went along to help, especially after he was told they wouldn’t be hurt nor would any of the kids.

Their capture was successful but Jack was soon thrust into the old job he’d hated so much when he was younger. He became the control for Jack and Terry, soon feeling it gnawing away at the wall he had put up at a younger age. His feelings for Shay grew stronger as he watched her pain and he even grew fond of Terry and worried about the craziness he seemed to be sliding into. He bonded with Caden over what was happening but couldn’t really figure if it was quite wrong yet.

He was accosted by Nicky to tell him what he knew, but he did no such thing although seeing how much he cared about his friends left a mark. But it wasn’t until Jack was put into a training simulation that involving shocking the snot out of the twins that his wall cracked firmly in two. And after a beatdown by Kevin and being informed by Shelton that the twins would be sent out against their own, it fairly crumbled.

Jack raced to Caden to try to formulate some sort of plan to help the twins escape Shelton once and for all, but they failed to do it in time and, to his dismay, the twins were sent out on their own. Thankfully Chino picked up the slack, hatching a plan at that moment that set them all free. The Giovanni allowed him and Caden to enlist, but under heavy watch for a few years.

During his stay he met Chris, who he sort of became pals with. This ended up saving Chris' life later when he ODed and Jack came in just in time to save him with a call for help.

He tried, at 21, to connect with Shay who seemed receptive. She took him out on dates, they had good times, until one night she called it all off at a carnival. She couldn't hurt Terry and he mattered more then she did in her mind. Jack thought the incident was an attempt to get back at him at first, but when that assumption proved wrong he tried to chase her down to apologize only to be stopped violently by Terry.

Once Jack recovered, he moved on with his life, going on missions with the group and mostly keeping to himself.  He found himself having more and more drinks with Nicole and harboring a strong attraction for her.  Seeing she brought out the best in him, he eventually proposed and they started on a happy family.

But his bad luck caught up with him when he discovered another presence in his mind.  He still doesn’t know who this person is but simply calls him the Sleeper as when he takes over, Jack seems to go to sleep (and do awful things).
