History
Caden was born to a happy couple that was decently well off. He learned his rambling habits from his mother, who was a teacher and he listened to her lectures on topics often. He learned his love of technologies from his father, who worked for a leading computer company. He had good grades in school, he was bright and his teachers thought he would go far when he got older. He even skipped 2nd grade.

When he was ten years old that came to an end. Late at night he heard his parents cry out and he was scared so he didn’t just run to see what was happening. Instead he did the logical 10 year old thing to do: He tried to hide in his closet. He remembers his parents were shouting something, what he doesn’t remember anymore. Then his mother burst into his room and dug him out from his hiding spot to run from the house. She shoved the child out of the window and told him they had to run to the neighbors and call for help. Just then something that looked human picked his mother up like she was a feather and pulled her back inside. The boy screamed for her, only to hear what sounded like his bed breaking in half and his mother telling him to run for it. He did so, and because of it he survived. His parents were both found brutally murdered, furniture was shattered, doors busted from their hinges… it looked like a monster attacked more then a man. However the legal ruling was a man on steroids who probably needed money.

After the legal dust was settling he was sent to stay with his Aunt Beth, who he knew worked as a scientist but nothing else. When the boy proved too scared to sleep at night she approached him about joining a special type of “schooling” where children were given special abilities to defend themselves. She used his fear to convert him into being an experiment for Shelton Inc. There he dove whole-heartedly into the process, no crying, no whining, he wasn’t like the other kids and he knew it.

He developed telekinesis and gained quite a bit of attention from the higher ups. Given he’d already been smart when he’d come in (at the latest possible age) and that he had one of the more offensive psys.

When he was 17 the incident that teleported away all but 1% of the kids took place. He was one of the 1% of course, left behind and his memories in tact. Once the company used the trackers to locate the children they selected him and one other (Jack) to act as spies. They would endear themselves to the children and figure out what happened exactly. They would also continue to act in the company’s interest thereafter. As a loyalist to the company that gave him everything Caden is hardly opposed.

He uses his Aunt as a cover “guardian” still (since she is on his legal documents) and was given a nice shiny new laptop (for note taking and reporting in via IMs if something is VERY important) and skateboard (more of a bribe gift from his Aunt actually) – both of which he adores.

His first encounter with some of the kids came when he and Jack caught some local roughs trying to pull a tough act on a few of them. After helping run them off, Caden suggested they all get something to ear, his treat. He figured the quickest and easiest way to get in good was through food. It was a start.

His second encounter turned out a bit more unorthodox. By chance he ran into some of them on the subway. Caden had been going home from a visit to Shelton and hadn't expected to run into them there. While striking up a friendly conversation, the train went through an underground tunnel...and stopped. All the lights went out and some 'things' began approaching the cars. Whatever they were, they weren't human and they were pulling folks out of the cars and dragging them off. Since it was dark, Caden tried to use his telekinesis abilities to help hold the monsters back and get them all out of there. It wasn't until months later he discovered that Shelton, Inc. had been behind the attacks.

A few days later, scared to go 'home' because he thought he saw some shadowy figures following him about and casing his aunt's house, he ran into Caspian and Aurora again and asked for their help in finding a new place to stay. They'd brought Moka along because he was the one seemingly in charge of club gang and it was his approval they needed. Finally when Caden said he supposed he'd just have to live out in the streets, Moka relented and said he could stay with them at the Hang Out on the condition he not step outside until he said it was okay to do so.

Now that he was in, it was much easier to send reports back to the Company, which he tried to do on a regular basis. Things were going along pretty well -- he was bonding nicely with most of them, especially Madison and Aurora. Then the day before Christmas he got the command to report back to Shelton. His time with the kids was up as they had a special assignment for him and Jack. Much to his horror, he found out their plans and had no real choice but to assist the company.

On Christmas eve they infiltrated the Hang Out by using knock out gas. It was suppose to be a simple hit and retrieve, but they hadn't counted on Moka's ability to change into a creature that could be effective on both the astral and the physical plane. Even while they were able to get their intended targets (Shay and Terry) out, Moka had kill one of the soldiers and Caden had been unmasked. There was now no way he could ever go back and interact with his former bunch of friends again.

Deeply depressed, Caden pretty much holed up in a room at Shelton, interacting only minimally with others and spending a lot of time on his computer. If it hadn't been for Jack, he probably wouldn't have had any sort of human contact at all. One day Jack came to him with something obviously eating away at his mind. He finally unloaded and told Caden about how awful the twins were being treated now. It was nothing like when they had all been younger. The testing was much more meaner and the scientists seemed to not care about them as people any more. He and Jack were trying to think up a way to bust the twins out when they were both called into a professor's office and told they were both going to now be a part of a new experiment -- one that would pit Terry and Shay against the Hang Out gang and he and Jack were to be involved too.

It was at this time he first began to doubt the company. They began to use antagonizing methods against the other kids and were being needlessly cruel to Shay and Terry themselves. Finally it reached a point where something had to give, while out on a job against the team the "control" on Terry and Shay was broken. Caden and Jack defected with them, no longer able to support the cruel tactics of Shelton. They were tenatively accepted into the mafia family at first, but it took them years before any real trust was given.

During his stay with the family he ran into his own sort of nemesis: Jared. At first it was a simple mission to look into a murdered family, but when they arrived Jared was cleaning up the scene. He was harmless at first but then he proved powerful, dangerous... and infatuated with Caden's telekenesis! Instantly in danger they fled, but it wasn't enough. When he was 20 he was attacked by Jared, shortly after the man had attacked poor Aurora and broken her body, and the result was that his own powers were claimed by the monsterous vampire.

Due in part to their mutual interests (and attacks by Jared,) he and Aurora become intimate.  Just as this is happening it became apparent Caden, like Moka, was also infected with the Rage sickness and it manifests when he almost sexual attacks his new girlfriend.  Desperate for any sort of cure, they turn to T.C.'s voodun practicing grandmother who, luckily, was able to get the infection out of him.

Two years later he almost wished he had the Rage back when news came down that Jared was being allowed to join their group.  He and Abigail tried to cook up a scheme to get the guy discredited and thrown out, but it was quickly squashed by Chale.  Even though he was still not happy with the killer being there, Jared came in handy when Jennifer's efforts to turn Caden into a fighter failed and they brought in the only person they knew he wouldn't find harming -- Jared.  The trick worked.

Caden was now going out on more and more missions which drove a wedge between him and Abigail.  She didn't like him being out front in all the danger, and he, with his telekinesis, could not see hiding safely behind a computer as an effective way to fight Shelton and their allies.  It wasn't long until the two of them broke up.  To make matters worse, he starts having worries about his best friend, Jack, as the guy suddenly starts demonstrating powers of his own; powers, he says, seem to come from someone that's living in his head!  Sworn to secrecy, Caden can only sit, worry and watch to make sure Jack doesn't do anything to hurt himself or anyone else.
